The Brand Behind Your Hyundai Is Thinking Way Ahead

When you drive a Hyundai from Tynan Hyundai Kirrawee, you're driving a vehicle backed by one of the most forward-thinking companies on the planet. And in February 2026, Hyundai Motor Group made a move that underlines just how serious they are about shaping what comes next.

The Group announced a landmark investment of approximately KRW 9 trillion — that's roughly AU$10 billion — to establish a world-class innovation hub in the Saemangeum area of Gunsan City, South Korea. The project, backed by a signed agreement with the South Korean government, is focused on three of the most transformative technologies of our time: robotics, artificial intelligence and hydrogen energy.

This isn't a distant vision. It starts in 2026.

What Is Hyundai Actually Building?

The Saemangeum Innovation Hub is a large-scale industrial complex that will bring together five major initiatives under one roof.

An AI Data Centre will sit at the heart of the project, scaled to process massive datasets across autonomous driving, robotics and smart factory development. Think of it as the brain that powers the next generation of Hyundai vehicles and beyond — with GPU computing power scaled to 50,000 units and storage for vast amounts of learning data across the entire Hyundai value chain.

Alongside that, a Robotics Manufacturing Cluster will produce approximately 30,000 robot units annually, leveraging Hyundai's world-class manufacturing expertise and smart logistics technology. A dedicated Robot Application Centre will verify and train robots using AI-based software before they're deployed in the real world.

On the energy side, Hyundai is constructing a 200MW-class hydrogen electrolyzer plant using their own proprietary technology — over 90 percent locally developed — to produce clean hydrogen at scale. Solar power infrastructure will supply gigawatt-scale renewable energy to support the entire complex by 2035.

And tying it all together is perhaps the most ambitious piece: an AI Hydrogen Smart City, integrating the Group's entire technology portfolio into a living, working urban ecosystem where AI, hydrogen and robotics converge in daily life.

Why Does This Matter for Hyundai Drivers in the Sutherland Shire?

It matters because the technology being developed in Saemangeum directly feeds into the cars Hyundai will build for decades to come. The AI data infrastructure powers autonomous driving development. The hydrogen research advances fuel cell technology. The robotics innovation improves manufacturing precision and quality.

Every Hyundai that rolls into Tynan Hyundai Kirrawee is the product of this kind of long-term thinking. The IONIQ range, the Santa Fe Hybrid, the ELEXIO — these vehicles exist because Hyundai has consistently invested in what comes next, not just what sells today.

The Numbers Tell the Story

The economic scale of this investment is extraordinary. The project is expected to generate KRW 16 trillion in total economic impact and create approximately 71,000 jobs across Korea — a reflection of just how seriously Hyundai takes its responsibility to the communities it operates in.

The Saemangeum investment is also part of Hyundai Motor Group's broader commitment to invest KRW 125.2 trillion in Korea between 2026 and 2030. That's a company putting its money where its mission is.

Hyundai's Commitment: Progress for Humanity

Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chair Jaehoon Chang summed it up well when the MOU was signed: what's being built in Saemangeum isn't just a facility — it's Korea's industrial future. And through its partnerships with global leaders including NVIDIA and Google DeepMind, Hyundai is positioning itself at the intersection of mobility, AI and clean energy in a way no other car company is.

At Tynan Hyundai Kirrawee, we're proud to represent a brand with this kind of vision. The next time you sit behind the wheel of a Hyundai, know that the company that built it is already working on what comes after.
